As the newest addition to team Kaldor, I couldn’t have timed my arrival better. My first Friday at the office was spent navigating ocean waves on a sea doo and attempting to save the world from an evil villain in Gastown. I think I’m going to like it here.
If previous years were any indication I knew Kaldor Day was going to be spectacular, but Tim and Paul had kept the details under wraps all week. I couldn’t help but be a little apprehensive. The plans were unveiled once we met at Granville Island, and much to our excitement we learned that a sea-doo tour of Vancouver was on the agenda. After suiting up we were quickly on our way to Lighthouse Park, zipping past container ships at thrilling speeds. Paul and Conor showed off their skills for a passing ferry at Horseshoe Bay. Sally, Chelsea and I reached top speed on our way to the lunch spot on Gambier. We paused for a refreshing swim beside Bowen Island before a beeline back to shore, giggling the whole way.
In the afternoon, our team attempted the heroic task of recovering a stolen artifact from the heavily guarded safe of Giles Pemberton Blackwell the III at G.U.E.S.S. Headquarters. Although we were exhausted from the morning, we worked together to solve a series of challenging riddles to disable lasers and motion sensors. Unfortunately we ran out of time right before we had the chance to complete the mission. It was a tough blow for our competitive team, but we are determined to return and take what is rightfully ours.
It was a perfect end to a great week.
