Challenge: The real-estate development arm of UBC, UBC Properties Trust (UBCPT), had long been suffering from confusion about how it presents its mission and projects. UBCPT approached Kaldor to design a website that repositioned the company and appropriately presented its work and achievements.
Our Thinking: We identified a new primary target audience for the site and the need to deliver key messaging about the company’s building philosophy and motives. This led to the creation of a primary architecture that prominently featured sustainability and endowment. The user interface and design employed a unique horizontal scrolling technique to create a continuous narrative with projects and sections. Photography was given prominence to showcase the company’s award-winning portfolio of projects. A robust CMS drives the searchability of hundreds of projects through multiple options, while the use of XML allows the client to effortlessly update the site.
Results: The website design has met with enthusiasm and approval by UBCPT management and went live in March 2009.
