Challenge: After a successful rebrand
with Kaldor, Douglas & McIntyre Publishing (D&M) needed a new website that would clearly differentiate each imprint and promote the valuable book backlist
as well as the latest offerings.
Our Thinking: Kaldor designed a site that gave book lovers easy access to D&M’s catalogue with a search function that linked to individual book pages. Because reader exclusives were deemed a major reason book buyers return repeatedly to a publisher’s site, Kaldor recommended that D&M develop member-only content like blogs and book reviews that would keep readers informed. To reinforce D&M’s
two distinct imprints, each page was colour-coded to the imprint and reflected easy-to-use and intuitive navigation functions.
Results: Launched in November 2007, D&M’s new site has created much buzz and has actively worked to solidify D&M’s brand in the minds of book lovers and publishing industry heavyweights alike.
